1. Becky Cable House
We did 27 TLS scans for the Becky Cable House in Cades Cove. Registering these scans together produced a point cloud dataset of >11.1 GB with >460 million points. We clipped and cleaned the point cloud, just focusing on the house, reducing the dataset to 9.03 GB with >373 million points. To reduce the potential duplicated points, we resampled the point cloud to a space of 0.005 m (5 mm), further reducing the point cloud to 739 MB with about 29.8 million points. We then align the point cloud with the airborne LiDAR dataset to project the point cloud to the NAD 1983 (2011) StatePlane Tennessee FIPS 4100 (US Feet) projection. We also created a virtual tour for the Becky Cable House using the 360 photos taken by a 360 camera.
2. Carter Shields Cabin
We did 13 TLS scans for the Carter Shields Cabin in Cades Cove. Registering these scans together produced a point cloud dataset of 4.86 GB with >200 million points. We clipped and cleaned the point cloud, just focusing on the house, reducing the dataset to 3.49 GB with >144 million points. We resampled the point cloud to a space of 0.005 m (5 mm), further reducing the point cloud to 336 MB with about 13.6 million points. We then align the point cloud with the airborne LiDAR dataset to project the point cloud to the NAD 1983 (2011) StatePlane Tennessee FIPS 4100 (US Feet) projection.
